Lyon part ways with Blanc

Laurent Blanc has left his role as manager of Lyon, the French club have announced.

Les Gones sit bottom of Ligue 1 after three defeats from their opening four matches.

A statement posted on the club's official website - translated to English - said: "Olympique Lyonnais and Laurent Blanc have mutually decided to end their collaboration as of today.

"This decision also applies to Franck Passi and Philippe Lambert, assistant coaches.

"Olympique Lyonnais would like to thank Laurent Blanc and his staff for their dedication and professionalism during these 11 months at the helm of the professional team."
