Brighton have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht for fee of £16.3m.

The 20-year-old, who impressed while playing for Netherlands U21s during the European Championship, has signed a five-year contract at The Amex.

Brighton stared last season with Robert Sanchez as their No 1 goalkeeper, but Jason Steele ended the season between the sticks.

Verbuggen joins James Milner, Mahmoud Dahoud and Joao Pedro in moving to the Amex Stadium this summer.

Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi said, “I am very pleased to have signed Bart.

“He is used to playing a type of football similar to ours and he will have no problem fitting into our group.

“He has the potential to become a very important player for the club in the coming years.”
