Busquets left Barcelona because of Lionel Messi’s return – La Liga’s Javier Tebas reveals

La Liga president, Javier Tebas has confirmed that Sergio Busquets has left the club because of the Catalans’ push for Lionel Messi’s return to Camp Nou.

He said the departure of the football legend has opened the doors for a Messi return, but insisted the club still has to work harder to ensure the prospect of bringing back the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner becomes a reality.

It is no longer news that Barcelona are longing to reunite with their legend and according to reports, the Argentine is also ready for a return as his contract at PSG expires in the summer.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Tebas confirmed that Messi could be set for a Barcelona return if the Catalan club makes more adjustments.

He was quoted by El Partidazo de COPE saying: “Busquets’ departure is the beginning of the road for Messi’s return, but to reach the end, Barça still have to walk many meters. I’m not the one to give them the green light, it will be the economic control.”

Following their failure to win the Champions League despite having the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar at the club, fans of PSG have declared that they are no longer comfortable with the presence of the superstars and want them to leave the club this summer.
