EPL: Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves question Ten Hag’s decisions in 2-2 draw with Tottenham

Former Manchester United stars, Owen Hargreaves and Rio Ferdinand have questioned decisions made by manager Erik ten Hag during their 2-2 draw with Tottenham in the Premier League on Thursday night.

The Red Devils threw away their two goal lead after Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford had scored for them in the first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham bounced back in the second half through Pedro Porro and Son Heung-min to rescue a well-earned draw.

Ferdinand and Hargreaves have questioned the Dutchman’s decisions to replace Christian Eriksen who was superb in the first-half, with Fred.

He also brought in Anthony Martial to replace Sancho, and the substitutes failed to impose themselves and were woeful.

The former Ajax coach made two further changes with Tyrell Malacia and Wout Weghorst replacing Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Antony.

Wan-Bssaka has been blamed for Tottenham’s equaliser.

“United will be disappointed, they will all be trudging into that changing room thinking how did we let that slip,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“They will be hugely disappointed

“I think the substitutions from United saw them relinquish control of the game with the personnel that came on.

“I think up until about six weeks ago he probably got every sub right,” Hargreaves added.

“At Anfield, he had a couple of moments that didn’t go his way, at home against Sevilla, a couple of subs that didn’t go his way, and obviously today.

“That’s the one thing they need to address,” he said.
