EPL: Chelsea’s plan for Lukaku under Pochettino revealed

Chelsea’s potential manager Mauricio Pochettino will offer forgotten striker Romelu Lukaku the chance to revive his Stamford Bridge career next season.

The Belgium international joined the Blues in a deal worth £97million in the summer of 2021 which was his second spell in west London.

During this period, the striker fell out with former manager, Thomas Tuchel after granting a controversial interview to the Italian media.

Lukaku has been at Inter since last summer on a loan deal from Chelsea and has endured a difficult season due to injury problems.

The player has made it clear he wants to remain in Italy but Inter currently have no plans to make the arrangement permanent.

And now The Telegraph is reporting that Chelsea will hold talks with the player over his future, not ruling out the possibility of him being integrated into the squad under Pochettino.

Pochettino has emerged the favourite manager to take over the hot seat at Stamford and is in advanced talks with the club.

And the 51-year-old is unlikely to object to the possibility of Lukaku being given another chance to prove his worth at the club.

Chelsea are planning to trim their bloated squad this summer but face a major problem up front with no recognised goal scorer in the squad.
