UCL: No fools here, I’m professional – Richarlison hits out at Antonio Conte

Tottenham Hotspur striker, Richarlison, has hit out at manager Antonio Conte for dropping him to the bench following his side’s Champions League round of 16 elimination at the hands of AC Milan on Wednesday.

Richarlison believes he is having an awful season under Conte due to his lack of starting opportunities in the team.

According to the Brazilian, there are no fools, and he is a professional who works every day and wants to play.

Tottenham crashed out of the Champions League on Wednesday night after playing a 0-0 draw with AC Milan having lost 1-0 on aggregate to the Serie A champions.

Richarlison came on as a substitute 20 minutes from the end of the match and was unable to make a difference.

Speaking with TNT Sports Brazil, the former Everton star said, “This season has been s***…I was coming off two good wins against West Ham and Chelsea and suddenly, he [Conte] put me on the bench. I didn’t understand.

“Suddenly, he [Cristian Stellini] put me on the bench, against Wolverhampton, he put me on for five minutes. I asked why? They didn’t tell me anything.

“And, yesterday, they asked me to take a test at the gym, that if I was good, I would go to the game and, at the time of the game, they left me on the bench. These are things that it’s not possible to understand.

“Let’s see what he [Conte] will say tomorrow, but there are no fools here either, I am a professional, I work every day and I want to play. There are minutes left, time left.

“This season, excuse the word, it has been s***, because I don’t have minutes, I suffered a little with the injury. But, when I enter the field, I give my life. I came from two games well, I think that’s it, I think I should’ve played and I don’t have to cry about it.”

Richarlison has also only started 12 out of his 25 games in all competitions for Tottenham this season.
