Championship: Middlesbrough talks up Akpom for maintaining scoring form

Middlesbrough manager Michael Carrick has again showered encomium on Chuba Akpom after the forward’s impressive display in the away win at Swansea City on Saturday.

The Nigerian-born forward continued his impressive scoring form by netting in the 3-1 victory at the Swansea City Stadium.

Middlesbrough conceded first in the game but rallied to secure maximum points.

Akpom scored the Teesiders’ third goal of the encounter from the spot on 77 minutes.

Carrick, who has seen Akpom’s form improve since he took charge of the club last year, has nothing but praise for his striker.

“It’s fantastic when someone in your team scores the goals that he has, but the biggest thing for me has been seeing Chuba grow, as a player and as a person,” Carrick said per The Northern Echo.

“Having that taste of goals and of success, he’s using that as motivation to push himself even more.”

Akpom has scored 22 goals in 28 appearances for Boro this season.
