Chelsea boss, Graham Potter, has given his verdict over the officiating in his side’s Premier League 1-1 draw against West United United on Saturday.
Chelsea took the lead through Joao Felix at the London Stadium in the first half, but West Ham equalized through former Blues player Emerson Palmieri.
During the encounter, Conor Gallagher’s effort from just outside the box struck the arm of Tomas Soucek as he fell to the ground when trying to block the shot.
Chelsea players were up in arms, surrounding the referee as they pleaded for a spot-kick against the host.
However, despite consultation with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) team of David Coote and Nick Greenhalgh, nothing was given.
Speaking at his post-match press conference, Potter said it looked quite a handball to him.
The Englishman said, “It looked quite a handball to me, I did not know Tomas could get down and save like that. It was a good save from him. It is not for me to say about VAR.
“You need your goalkeeper sometimes to get you points. I only saw it briefly and it looks like one of those where if it was given, it wouldn’t be overturned, but it has not been given.
“Sometimes they go for you, sometimes they don’t and you just have to accept that. You can’t wait for luck to turn. We have to keep working.”
