Man Utd boss Ten Hag: Sancho much better than 3 months ago

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag was pleased for Jadon Sancho after his goal in their 2-2 draw against Leeds in midweek.

Sancho had spent time in the Netherlands working on an individual training programme with coaches recommended to him by Ten Hag. Prior to the Reds' 2-2 draw with Leeds United in midweek, the 22-year-old had not featured in the Premier League since October.

"He's growing. He's definitely in better place than two or three months ago," Ten Hag told Sky Sports. "When he was away from the team, I think it was the right decision from him to do it.

"He worked hard on himself and now he is back. Now he has to find himself back in the team. That has to go step-by-step, now he's coming from the bench, so I hope he can make the next steps."

It comes after Ten Hag previously suggested that the England winger was not fit enough to play, with Sancho spending three months out of the first-team picture.

He was not present on United's warm weather training trip to Cadiz in December, but returned to action in the EFL Cup semi-final second-leg win against Nottingham Forest at the start of this month.
