Diego Simeone is ready to leave Atletico Madrid.
El Chiringuito is reporting Simeone has informed Atletico GM Miguel Angel Gil Martn that he plans to step down at the end of the season.
The Argentine feels he's taken the club as far as a he can and now feels he needs a new challenge.
With more than eleven years of service, Simeone will leave as the LaLiga's longest serving coach. He is well ahead of Jagoba Arrasate of Osasuna and Imanol Alguacil of Real Sociedad (both almost four years).
Elimination from the Champions League and being 14 points behind LaLiga leaders Barcelona has convinced Simeone it is now time to change.
