West Ham No2 Warburton: Aguerd in touch about injury

West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd has assured management his World Cup injury isn't serious.

There were fears around another injury to Nayef Aguerd at the World Cup.

With teammate Kurt Zouma already having undergone knee surgery, Aguerd, signed for £30million in the summer before missing the opening months of the season through injury, hobbled off during Morocco's shock last-16 victory over Spain.

However, the defender's groin injury is not as bad as first feared.

West Ham assistant Mark Warburton said on Tuesday: "Nayef has made contact with us already and fingers crossed it's not as bad as it looked.

"We saw he reached for his groin but he's quite happy tonight so hopefully he'll have it assessed and have a scan in the morning and, fingers crossed, it's not too bad."
