He’s key pieces – Pedri begs Barcelona star not to leave Camp Nou

Barcelona midfielder, Pedri, has urged captain Sergio Busquets not to leave Camp Nou, insisting that he is a key piece.

Busquets has been one of the greatest defensive midfielders of his generation since making his club debut for Barcelona back in 2008.

The 34-year-old announced his retirement from the Spain national team after La Roja’s Round of 16 elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

While he remains a key player for Barcelona under Xavi, his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

Busquets has been linked with a move to David Beckham-co-owned Inter Miami, as the MSL club wants the Spaniard to join on a free transfer.

Speaking to Catalunya Radio, Pedri said, “Busquets is a key piece and I am delighted to play with him. Sometimes people don’t see his work but when he’s not there, we notice it.

“I hope he stays a lot longer at Barcelona.”

Busquets has made 696 appearances for Barcelona so far in his career and has won eight La Liga titles, seven Copa Del Reys, eight Spanish Super Cups, three UEFA Champions Leagues, three UEFA Super Cups, and three FIFA Club World Cup trophies.
