Zidane next? Le Graet says Deschamps will leave if France miss top 4 finish

Former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is favourite to replace Didier Deschamps as France manager after the World Cup.

French Football Federation president Noel Le Graet admits Deschamps will be asked to step down should they fail to finish in the top four.

Should Deschamps leave the post, then Zidane would be favourite to succeed him.

Le Graet said of Deschamps: "The objective remains the same: the semi-finals. And if we don't reach it, we'll see.

"We both agree, we will see each other immediately after the World Cup. If we go to the semi-finals, it is he who has the choice. If he feels motivated to continue, we don't even argue. If we are not in the last four, we discuss … In this hypothesis, it is I who have the hand. We will see depending on the circumstances.

"It depends on the game, if the world champion has beaten us... But if Didier is not in the last four, he does not stay in place for sure.

"A wear and tear at Deschamps? I spent the day with him yesterday (Wednesday), I don't feel any weariness on his part. His thing is the France team, the love of the jersey."
