Bruno Lage has reflected on his demise at Wolves this season.
Lage was fired as Wolves manager last month.
He told the Independent: "Unfortunately, at Wolves we didn't have the right striker and I knew that every time we played with a striker the performances were completely different - not only the team's, but also the individual.
"We played in a different way, and I remember that in February (last season) we were in the fight for the top four, in March we were in seventh place, and in the last games it was hard to have five players injured.
"The second season was difficult and the schedule is different because of the World Cup. The fights just keep coming. I think what I learned - not just me but the whole board, was that we can't compete in the Premier League without a striker."
