Ronaldo, Fernandes tell Man United to sign Portugal star

Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes have advised Manchester United to sign Antonio Silva from Benfica.

The 19-year-old has been in a superb run of form since breaking into Benfica’s first team at the start of the season.

He was named in the Portugal squad for the World Cup in Qatar following his impressive performances this term.

Sunday Mirror reports that United are among a number of clubs monitoring Silva’s development at Benfica, with Barcelona and Real Madrid also interested.

According to the report, Ronaldo and Fernandes ‘have spoken positively’ about Silva at United.

With reports in Europe last week claiming that Erik ten Hag is open to letting Harry Maguire leave Manchester United, the Dutchman is likely to be in the market for a new central defender next summer.

Maguire is no longer a member of Manchester United’s starting XI, with Ten Hag preferring Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez as his centre-back pairing.
