Rangers have made an official approach to QPR to speak to head coach Mick Beale over the vacant managerial role at Ibrox, Sky Sports News has been told.
It is expected that QPR will grant Rangers permission to speak to the 42-year-old who is understood to be keen on the prospect of becoming the club's 18th permanent manager, following the sacking of Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Monday.
It's believed Beale has maintained good relations with Rangers since his departure as coach last November when he left with Steven Gerrard for Aston Villa after assisting the manager in securing the club's 55th top-flight title in 2021.
The Englishman made his move to become boss at Loftus Road in the summer and turned down an approach from Wolves last month, citing "integrity and loyalty" as the reason for rejecting the Premier League job.
Meanwhile, the Ibrox club are in discussions with the backroom team left behind by Van Bronckhorst.
