Portugal veteran Joao Mario: What REALLY happened between Man Utd pair Ronaldo and Fernandes

Portugal veteran Joao Mario has rubbished claims of a rift between Manchester United pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes.

Twenty-four hours after Ronaldo's explosive interview with Piers Morgan emerged, a clip emerged of Fernandes giving Ronaldo a lukewarm greeting inside the Portugal dressing room on Monday.

But Benfica midfielder Joao Mario said: "I was lucky to be in the locker room. It was a joke between them. Cristiano Ronaldo asked Bruno Fernandes if he had come by boat. They have a great relationship. They saw a small excerpt, but there is no problem."

On Ronaldo, he added: "He's always happy when he's with the national team. He's great, as always. It's always a pleasure for him to be here. He'll be important at the World Cup."
