Man Utd boss Ten Hag willing to see Fred run down contract

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is ready to release Fred at the end of the season.

The Guardian says Ten Hag is looking to rebuild United over the summer, and Fred looks to have found himself on the chopping block.

Ten Hag has been impressed with Fred's application and team ethic, but it's not enough to keep him around.

The Dutchman is looking to overhaul his midfield and only believes Casemiro has shown the consistency of a top-class midfielder. Fred's deal expires next summer, and he'd be able to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer.

However, Fred isn't the only United man on Ten Hag's hit list - and Harry Maguire could also be on his way.

Maguire has struggled to establish himself under Ten Hag, having been a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick. However, after poor performances, he was dropped by the Dutchman and hasn't been able to muscle himself back into the side.
