Man Utd boss Ten Hag explains Ronaldo absence for Cup win

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo was left out of the squad to face Aston Villa due to illness.

The Red Devils earned payback for their recent Premier League loss to Villa, winning 4-2 in the Carabao Cup third round at Old Trafford on Thursday.

However, Ronaldo was not in the squad for United, with coach Erik ten Hag confirming the issue was an illness.

Asked about the matter pre-game, ten Hag stated: "Illness.

“Not available.

“Difficult to say how he recovers, I'm not worried until now."

United take on Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday before the World Cup break.
