Champions League: Coach Ibrahim predicts teams to make last-8

 


The draw for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 was conducted on Monday afternoon.

DAILY POST reports that defending champions, Real Madrid will take on Premier League giants, Liverpool in what is a repeat of last season’s final.

Premier League champions, Manchester City will face RB Leipzig, while Tottenham Hotspur have been paired with Serie A champions, AC Milan.

Frankfurt will clash with Napoli and Club Brugge will tackle Benfica.

Borussia Dortmund will face Chelsea, while Inter Milan have been paired with FC Porto.

French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain will clash with Bayern Munich.

The first legs of the Champions League round of 16 are scheduled for 14/15/21/22 February, with the second legs on 7/8/14/15 March.

However, speaking with DAILY POST, Abubakar Ibrahim, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FC head coach, picked the teams that should progress from the Champions League round of 16 to the quarter-final stage.

Ibrahim also admitted that this season’s Champions League is tougher than last term

“The UEFA Champions League this season is tougher than last year because all the clubs in the group stages did very well this season this time around,” Ibrahim told DAILY POST.

“They all played very good football compared to last season.

“However, this time around, following the Champions League round of 16 draws, there are some strong teams that should advance to the next stage [quarter-final] due to their outstanding performances in the group stage.

“The likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Napoli, Porto, Tottenham Hotspur and Benfica,” he predicted.
