Southampton midfielder Ibrahima Diallo: I wasn't sure about staying - then Romeu

Southampton star Ibrahima Diallo admits he was “not sure" about his future this summer.

The 23-year-old felt that he could move on from the club, with French publication L'Equipe stating at the time that he wanted to move to Valencia in Spain.

However, Diallo ended up staying, with Oriol Romeu being sold by the Saints instead.

Asked about all that speculation, Diallo told the Daily Echo: “As usual, I was not sure because my goal is to play as much as possible.

“But I always stay focussed on my job and on the club. I'm happy to be here and to help the team as much as possible."

“I feel good, I feel I get better and I try to help the team as much as possible. I have a calm life with my family, it's a calm city," he added.

“I am calm in my life so I like the city, the people are good so it's really nice. It's always great to see the support from the fans, I hope they stay like this throughout the whole season and we will try to give back as much as we can."

“I learned a lot from him, he has a lot of experience, a big character and is a good player and good person as well. I learned a lot from him," Diallo went on to say about Romeu leaving.
