Ratcliffe confirms: I WANT to buy Man Utd, but the Glazers...

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has revealed that he does want to buy Manchester United.

However, the entrepreneur also admitted that a sale by the Glazer family is very unlikely.

Ratcliffe spoke about speculation linking him to a takeover at United, a club he supports.

In an interview with the Financial Times, Ratcliffe said: “I met with Joel and Avram, and they are the nicest people, and they don't want to sell it.

“If it had been for sale in the summer, yes, we would probably have had a go, following on from the Chelsea thing.

“But we can't sit around hoping one day Manchester United will become available."

He added on his own ventures: “We have a sports franchise, which is a really interesting franchise. We own a third of the Mercedes Formula 1 team, which has been the most successful of the last few years - robbed last year.

“We've got a great cycling team. Eliud Kipchoge we're quite close to. And probably the most challenging of all is Ben Ainslie with his America's Cup challenge, which is going quite well at the moment. That's a couple of years away."
