Juventus probe over £17M Ronaldo pay claim

Italian giants Juventus allegedly promised to pay Cristiano Ronaldo £17 million during the pandemic.

When the pandemic first struck, the Turin-based team announced that players were taking hefty salary reductions to assist the club.

However, Juve are now under investigation for falsifying accounts, per La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The club are accused of having created fake balance sheets for 2019, 2020, and 2021.

The report adds that 16 of the club's chiefs, including president Andrea Agnelli and vice president Pavel Nedved, are under investigation too.

They go on to say that Ronaldo, who is now at Manchester United, was promised the huge sum even if he left the club.

However, the agreement was allegedly not properly registered by Juve in their financial declaration.

Per La Stampa, Ronaldo nor his reps made any comment about the matter when asked.
