It’s shocking, strange – Wright-Phillips on Tuchel’s sacking by Chelsea

Former Man City and Chelsea star Shaun Wright-Phillips has made an honest verdict about the sacking of Thomas Tuchel as the Blues boss.

Wright-Philips believes that the German did not deserve the treatment meted out to him by the club’s owners.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain boss was shown the exit door at Stamford Bridge last week and was replaced by Brighton boss Graham Potter.

During an interview with Metro, the former England winger was asked if the Blues were right to sack Tuchel, and he said, “No, and it’s a hard no in my opinion.

“Once you set out and give someone £250m to spend, then you’ve shown the fans, the club and the world that you’re backing this manager.

“So, it caught me by surprise….[It] is strange. It was a shock, and I completely don’t understand the reasons for it.”
