Verbeek backing Wijnaldum to join Dybala and Mourinho at Roma

Former Feyenoord coach Gertjan Verbeek is backing Gini Wijnaldum to move to Roma.

The PSG midfielder is in talks with Roma about a loan move.

Verbeek worked with Wijnaldum at Feyenoord and he said: "He was very young and always came to training half an hour earlier, with headphones in his ears and a good mood. The previous year he had played a few games in the first team, in preseason he impressed me so much that I immediately lined him up against PSV in the Dutch Super Cup.

"He was ready. He would bring personality, leadership, quality and quantity to Roma. It would be a great blow for (Jose) Mourinho.

"With him and (Paulo) Dybala, Roma for the Scudetto? It's hard to say, but why not? After all, the winners help to win, and he was European champion with Liverpool. If he arrives, Roma will have fun."
