Barcelona president, Laporta gives fresh update on Man United transfer target, De Jong

Barcelona president, Joan Laporta has provided a fresh update on midfielder, Frenkie de Jong’s future at the club amid interest from Manchester United.

Laporta said Barcelona would further talk with De Jong before deciding whether or not to sell him to Manchester United.

Man United manager, Erik ten Hag, is keen to sign De Jong this summer, having already signed the likes of Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia.

Ten Hag is desperate to make De Jong, who he coached at Ajax, his fourth signing of the ongoing summer transfer window.

Asked for the latest update on the future of Manchester United transfer target De Jong, Barcelona Chief, Laporta told ESPN: “Frenkie is our player, we really like him.

“We received some offers for Frenkie, but we didn’t accept them as of now, as we want to talk with him and know exactly what he wants. We need to clarify some aspects of his situation.”

De Jong is believed to be reluctant to move to Man United as he is more than happy at the Nou Camp.
