Far better players didn’t get perfect send-off, move on – Neville slams Man Utd star

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville has hit out at Jesse Lingard, insisting that he saw far better players than the winger that did not get a perfect send-off at the club.

Neville said Lingard wanted a free transfer out of Man United, adding that the 28-year-old should move on.

Reports had earlier emerged that Lingard was reportedly left unhappy after not getting an Old Trafford farewell following Man United’s 3-0 win over Brentford a few days ago.

The likes of Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata were given a standing ovation from the home crowd in what was their last home game for Man United.

Lingard is also among the clutch of players expected to the Red Devils this summer but remained on the bench against Brentford.

Brentford’s snub provoked an angry outburst from Lingard’s brother, Louie Scott, who posted an emotional message on Instagram, slating interim manager Ralf Rangnick and Man United as a whole.

But Neville has been left puzzled by the ‘fuss’ over the situation.

“I don’t get the Lingard fuss at all,” Neville wrote on Twitter on Friday.

“I saw far better players than him not get a perfect send-off. He wants to leave, he wanted a free transfer. He’s got it. Move on.”
