EPL: Man City’s Gabriel takes decision on joining Arsenal after Champions League blow

Manchester City forward, Gabriel Jesus could still land in Arsenal this summer despite the Gunners missing out on Champions League football.

The Sun, UK, reports that the Brazilian has not ruled out the prospect of joining the Gunners as he seeks regular playing time that would brighten his chances of playing in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Mikel Arteta wants to boister his squad ahead of next season to enable the Gunners challenge for titles next season and Arsenal have already held talks with the Brazil international’s representatives.

Jesus’ representative, Marcelo Pettinati, said last week that the 29-year-old considers a move to Arsenal as a ‘serious possibility’.

Arsenal were defeated 2-0 by Newcastle United on Monday and this appeared to be a blow to their chances of qualifying for the Champions League and securing the services of top players.

But The Sun reports that even though Arsenal are facing the prospect of no Champions League football next season, the Brazil International ‘has not completely ruled out’ the idea of a move to the Gunners.

Arsenal are hopeful that Arteta’s relationship with Jesus would be a key factor as they worked closely together at City.
