EPL: I expected Man Utd to qualify for Champions League – Rangnick speaks on 3-0 win over Brentford

Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, has looked back at his time at his short stint at the club.

And according to the German, he expected the Red Devils to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Rangnick was hired on a six-month contract after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in November 2021.

Speaking after the 3-0 win over Brentford, which was United’s last home league game, the 63-year-old said: “I’m not completely happy with those six months.

“I expected us to qualify for the Champions League. That was the goal we had, but we were not consistent enough.

“We had two or three breaks [in my time in charge]. One of them we had hardly any players there [due to coronavirus]. We were also not able to bring in any new players in January. I would have hoped and expected we won more points. We could easily have had eight or 10 points more.”
