EPL: Grow up, look at Pogba, he’s leaving – Danny Mills slams Man United star

Former Manchester City full-back, Danny Mills, has hit out at Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard, insisting that the winger should grow up.

Mills said Lingard should look at his teammate, Paul Pogba, who he said would be leaving Man United this summer and the Frenchman would not be getting a sendoff.

He said this after reports had earlier emerged that Lingard was reportedly left unhappy after not getting an Old Trafford sendoff following Man United’s 3-0 victory over Brentford a few days ago.

The likes of Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic were given a standing ovation from the Old Trafford crowd in what was their last home game for Man United.

Lingard is also among the clutch of players expected to leave Man United this summer but remained on the bench against Brentford.

Brentford’s snub provoked an angry outburst from Lingard’s brother, Louie Scott, who posted an emotional message on Instagram, slating interim manager Ralf Rangnick and Man United as a whole.

“No, it’s football, not a fairy tale. If he had decided to leave and sign for Newcastle in January, would he have gone on the pitch and thanked all the fans for their support? No. If he was retiring, and that was the end of his playing days and he was hanging his boots up, then, yes, not an issue. I would not have a problem with that,” Mills told Football Insider.

He added: “What player who is leaving on a free contract who clearly does not want to stay at the club gets a standing ovation? There is clearly a financial implication too.

“What do you expect? Look at Paul Pogba; he’s leaving and not getting a sending off. You might be a little bit disappointed, but this is football, grow up.”
