Tottenham Hotspur manager, Antonio Conte, has explained why Brighton defeated his team 1-0 in Saturday’s Premier League tie.
Tottenham lost to Brighton in front of their home fans, following a late goal from Leandro Trossard.
But Conte believes Brighton defeated Spurs because his players started very slowly against the visitors at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“A difficult game, we knew this. I had seen them against Arsenal and we knew what could happen tactically. It was a tactical game,” the former Inter Milan and Chelsea coach told BT Sport.
“I think a draw would have been the more fair final result, but Brighton won the game, so they deserved to win.
“We started very slowly and in this type of game, you have to move the ball more quickly. Maybe the weather… I want to find an excuse, but it was not a good game for us.”
The defeat to Brighton means Tottenham still maintain the fourth position with 57 points from 32 games.
