The player, outgoing Manchester United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, still regrets not signing for the club, has been revealed.
Man United confirmed on Thursday that Woodward would resign from his role on February 1.
Woodward had replaced David Gill shortly after the club won the last of its 20th Premier League title in 2013.
Richard Arnold will replace Woodward as Man United’s most senior executive on February 1.
However, according to ESPN, Woodward views his failure to bring Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane to Old Trafford as one of his biggest regrets.
Man United have been repeatedly linked with a move for Kane over the past few years, but the 28-year-old still remains at Spurs.
The England captain has scored 232 goals in 361 games for Tottenham.
Meanwhile, Man United legend Gary Neville has been vocal in claiming that the forward could transform Man United into title contenders once more, but a deal for Kane now looks more unlikely than ever.
