I’ll return to Man United to solve defense problem – Rio Ferdinand

Former Manchester defender, Rio Ferdinand has said he would ‘seriously’ consider an offer to become a defensive coach at the club.

Harry Maguire-led Red Devils’ defense has struggled throughout the 2021-22 season.

They have managed only four clean sheets in the league, conceding 26 goals.

Raphael Varane, who joined the club from Real Madrid last summer, has started just six games in the league due to injury.

Ferdinand marshalled United’s backline from 2002 to 2014 and formed one of the Premier League’s best ever centre-half pairings alongside Nemanja Vidic.

Asked if he would consider coming back to the club to help solve their defensive issues, Rio Ferdinand told Vide with Five,
“Of course! I probably would.

“We’ll have to see what the deal looks like!

‘But when United come calling, it’s like it is as a player, when United come calling it’s definitely a conversation you sit down and take seriously.”
