Zamfara United football club conducts screening for new players

The Zamfara united football club has begun screening for new players as the league season draws closer.

DAILY POST who visited the Gusau township stadium where the screening exercise is ongoing, reports that many players with outstanding qualities were present to fight for a shirt in the football club.

When interviewed, the chairman of the club, Abdulaziz Hamza and the Technical Adviser, Alhassan Mohammed expressed satisfaction, saying that the screening exercise has attracted promising talents from various league and non – league clubs to the camp.

“In fact, with what we have seen on ground, the club will be one of the few clubs to watch out for in the forthcoming league season” they added.

He said justice must be done as players will be selected based on their performance, saying that the screening exercise will not be politicised.

Speaking, the Special Adviser to the Zamfara State Governor on Sports, Habibi Yuguda assured of the state government’s support to the club and promised improved welfare for the players and technical crew to encourage them more.

Yuguda encouraged players, especially those from outside Zamfara State to feel free and at home in their fight for a jersey during the screening exercise without any fear or intimidation.

Zamfara United Football Club is set to play in the Nigeria National League (NNL) season which is expected to kick off soon.

Available records show that the club finished in the 7th position in last season’s table in the Nigerian National League (NNL).

The screening exercise which started last week Tuesday at the Gusau township stadium is expected to last for two weeks.
