Manchester United new signing, Raphael Varane, has revealed that former manager, Alex Ferguson, visited his mother’s house to try and persuade him to join the Red Devils in 2011.
Varane said this on Monday during his interview with the club’s official website.
The 28-year-old was finally unveiled as a Man United player over the weekend before their Premier League kickoff against Leeds United.
He joined Man United from Real Madrid for a £40 million deal.
“There had been a lot of rumours and a lot of people speaking about me and Manchester United since 2011, when Sir Alex Ferguson [former Man United manager] came to my mother’s house,” Varane told Man United’s official website on Monday.
“When it was real, that was when I spoke with my club, and I felt it was a real opportunity to play in the Premier League for Manchester United.”
Varane will now hope to feature for Man United when they take on Southampton on Sunday.
