Mouh Marco Ianni celebrated directly in front of his face when Barkley equalised and chased him towards Chelsea’s tunnel.
The 55-year-old was furious with the six minutes of added time and responded to taunts from the Chelsea fans after the final whistle by putting three fingers up to the home crowd – referring to the amount of league titles he won at Stamford Bridge.
The brawl upstaged what had been an excellent game and one that Manchester United were seconds from winning against the odds.
