Kate O'Connor made history by winning Northern Ireland's first-ever Commonwealth Games heptathlon gold medal at Scotstoun Stadium.
The 25-year-old, a world indoor and outdoor silver medallist, topped the standings with 6,569 points, becoming the first new Commonwealth heptathlon champion in eight years. England's Jade O'Dowda claimed silver, while Australia's Tori West secured bronze.
The victory marks O'Connor's first senior outdoor gold medal and her first Commonwealth Games title, having finished eighth in 2018 before winning silver in 2022. She also becomes Northern Ireland's first athletics gold medallist at the Games since 1986 and the nation's 12th medallist in Glasgow.
Heading into the competition as the favourite following the withdrawal of defending champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson, O'Connor delivered an outstanding performance. She led after day one with strong displays in the 100m hurdles, high jump and 200m, despite difficult conditions affecting her shot put.
She extended her advantage on the final day with impressive performances in the long jump and javelin before sealing the title by winning the 800m in 2:10.45.
The historic triumph also makes O'Connor Northern Ireland's first Commonwealth Games multi-event gold medallist since Dame Mary Peters won the pentathlon in 1974.
Northern Ireland teammate Anna McCauley finished eighth overall, while O'Connor is set to receive her gold medal during Thursday's medal ceremony.
