Iheanacho Rejects Celtic Return, Opts for Move to Turkey

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has turned down the chance to remain with Scottish champions Celtic, opting instead to join Turkish club Bursaspor on a three-year deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029.

The Nigerian forward completed the move as a free agent after his contract with Celtic expired on June 30. Although the Scottish giants offered him fresh terms after deciding against triggering the automatic 12-month extension in his previous contract, Iheanacho chose a new challenge in Turkey.

The 28-year-old was reportedly persuaded by Bursaspor's significantly improved financial package, paving the way for his switch to the Turkish side.

Bursaspor unveiled Iheanacho on Friday with an Odyssey-themed announcement video across the club's social media platforms, generating excitement among football fans in both Turkey and Nigeria.

The transfer also sets up the prospect of Iheanacho competing in the same league as fellow Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen, who plays for Turkish champions Galatasaray.

The move adds another chapter to Iheanacho's career, having previously featured for Manchester City, Leicester City, Sevilla and Celtic before embarking on his latest adventure in Turkish football.
