Identical twins Abigail and Emily Roper etched their names into Welsh sporting history by both winning Commonwealth Games bronze medals in Glasgow within a matter of hours.
Abigail claimed Wales' first gymnastics medal of the day after producing an impressive display to finish third in the women's vault final. Her sister Emily narrowly missed out in the same event, placing fourth, but bounced back later in the afternoon to secure bronze in the uneven bars.
The achievement marked a remarkable milestone for Welsh gymnastics, with the sisters celebrating medals on the same day at a major international championship.
"I can't even put into words how crazy it is," Abigail said after her podium finish.
"I went into this final with no expectations. It was my first final at a major tournament and I was just happy to make it. To come away with a bronze medal is just insane."
Emily admitted missing out on a medal in the vault was disappointing but said watching her sister succeed gave her extra motivation heading into the uneven bars final.
"Coming back from the vault was disappointing, but I was super proud for Ab," she said.
"It was about doing my own thing on the bars, and this result is just amazing. I just needed to regather my emotions and remind myself of what I was capable of.
"Going from vault straight to bars, there wasn't much time, so being resilient helped a lot, and I'm glad it paid off."
Fellow Welsh gymnast Jemima Taylor, who replaced Ruby Evans in the team, finished seventh in the uneven bars final. Australia's Kate McDonald took gold, while Canada's Ellie Black secured silver.
The twin success lifted Wales' medal tally in Glasgow to six, comprising one silver and five bronze medals, and provided one of the standout moments of the Games for the Welsh team.
