Gift Orban Nears Loan Switch to Turkish Süper Lig Club

Hoffenheim striker Gift Orban is on the verge of joining newly promoted Turkish side Amedspor on a season-long loan, according to German outlet Kicker.

Orban recently returned to Hoffenheim after spending the second half of last season on loan at Italian Serie A club Hellas Verona.

The Nigerian forward made an impressive start to life in Italy, scoring seven goals during the first half of the campaign. However, his form tailed off after the turn of the year, as he managed just one more goal to finish the season, although he still ended as Verona's leading scorer.

Despite his goals, Verona decided against making the move permanent following a reported fallout between the striker and sections of the club's supporters. Hoffenheim have also deemed him surplus to requirements ahead of the new season.

Orban endured a similarly inconsistent spell in Germany. After joining Hoffenheim from Olympique Lyonnais in the January 2025 transfer window for €9m, he enjoyed a promising start but finished the 2024/25 Bundesliga campaign with four goals, failing to find the net after February 2025.

Hoffenheim recovered part of their investment through the €500,000 loan fee paid by Verona last season.

According to Kicker, the Bundesliga club are now set to receive a further €1m loan fee from Amedspor for the 2026/27 season, with the move expected to be completed in the coming days.
