Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen is set to begin an individual rehabilitation programme in his home country following discussions with Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg.

In a statement posted on its official X account on Thursday, the German club confirmed that the decision was reached after talks between Eriksen and Wolfsburg Managing Director Dieter Hecking.

Via The 34-year-old will continue his recovery in Denmark while remaining under the close supervision of the club and his medical team.

“Christian Eriksen will soon begin an individual rehabilitation programme. After a conversation with VfL Managing Director Dieter Hecking, it was decided that the 34-year-old will complete this in his home country of Denmark.

“VfL is in regular contact with Christian as well as the treating physicians. For the course of his rehabilitation, we continue to wish Christian all the best,” the club said.

Eriksen's rehabilitation follows the shocking incident during Denmark’s opening match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, when he collapsed on the pitch, prompting the suspension of the game as medical staff rushed to provide emergency treatment.

The experienced midfielder was stretchered off the field and taken to a nearby hospital, where he later regained consciousness. He was subsequently reported to be in stable condition and has since begun his road to recovery.
