Brighton captain Maisie Symonds has committed her future to the club by signing a new long-term contract, providing a major boost to the Seagulls as they continue their ambitious growth in the Women's Super League.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined Brighton from Chelsea in 2021, is now the club's longest-serving player and has made 103 appearances in all competitions. Since being named captain last season, Symonds has become a key figure both on and off the pitch.
Head coach Dario Vidosic hailed the new agreement, praising the midfielder's leadership and influence within the squad.
"Maisie is a massive influence both on and off the pitch, and since becoming captain last season she has developed both as a player and as a person," Vidosic said.
"We are thrilled that she is committing her long-term future and will be part of our vision to establish Brighton as one of the top four Women's Super League clubs."
Symonds captained Brighton to their first-ever Women's FA Cup final at Wembley in May, leading the side in the showpiece against Manchester City. Her impressive performances have also been recognised internationally, earning her a first senior England call-up in March 2025 after progressing through the youth ranks to under-21 level.
Speaking after signing her new deal, Symonds said she was delighted to continue her journey with the club.
"I'm very happy. I feel so at home here. It's the only club I've ever played for professionally, and I feel I've grown so much over the last six years alongside the club and the women's team.
"It really feels like we've been setting high standards for ourselves with what we've been building over the last two years. We're starting to reach our potential, and we only want to get better and better."
The contract extension comes during an exciting period for Brighton Women's Football Club. Earlier this year, the club unveiled plans to build Europe's first purpose-built women's football stadium, a landmark project estimated to cost between £75 million and £80 million, underlining Brighton's long-term commitment to the growth of the women's game.
