Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli strengthened his grip on the Formula One championship with a commanding victory at the Belgian Grand Prix, while teammate George Russell's race ended on the opening lap after a collision.
The Italian claimed his sixth win in 10 races this season, recovering brilliantly after losing track position during a virtual safety car period before chasing down and overtaking Ferrari's Charles Leclerc for the victory.
Russell's race came to a premature end after he was involved in a first-lap collision with Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, forcing him to retire and dropping him to third in the championship standings, 50 points behind Antonelli.
Hamilton capitalised on the incident to move back up to second in the drivers' standings, finishing fourth in the race to edge five points clear of Russell.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen completed the podium by finishing third behind Antonelli and Leclerc.
The race featured several dramatic moments, including Russell's early exit, the virtual safety car that briefly handed Leclerc a chance to fight for victory, and the setback suffered by McLaren's Lando Norris, whose podium hopes were hampered after a grid penalty left him starting from 13th on the grid.
Antonelli's latest triumph further cements his status as the title favourite as the Formula One season enters its decisive phase.
