World record holder Tobi Amusan has arrived at Team Nigeria's training camp in Aberdeen, Scotland, as preparations gather pace for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The reigning Commonwealth Games women's 100m hurdles champion joins the Nigerian contingent after an impressive Diamond League campaign, having already secured qualification for the season-ending final in Brussels, Belgium, with four meetings still to be contested.
Amusan is expected to be one of Team Nigeria's strongest medal hopes in Glasgow as she bids to win a third consecutive Commonwealth Games title in the women's 100m hurdles, following her triumphs at the 2018 and 2022 editions.
The 29-year-old has enjoyed another outstanding season, successfully defending her African title in Ghana and clocking a season's best of 12.28 seconds, a mark she has matched on three occasions this year.
She heads into the Games as the favourite for gold in a highly competitive field that includes Jamaica's Megan Simmonds and Kerrica Hill, South Africa's Marione Fourie, England's Emma Nwofor, Barbados' Adeyah Brewster and Maya Rollins, Canada's Mariam Abdul-Rashid and Tatiana Aholou, Ghana's Evonne Britton, Kenya's Rukia Nusra Omulisia, and Australia's Michelle Jenneke.
Team Nigeria opened its training camp in Aberdeen last week, with athletes preparing at the Aberdeen Sports Village ahead of the Games.
However, Nigeria's preparations have suffered a setback following the withdrawal of long jump star Ese Brume due to injury.
