Amorim Backs Chukwueze to Stay at Milan

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze could still have a future at AC Milan after new manager Ruben Amorim highlighted the Nigerian's importance ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Chukwueze had been tipped to leave the San Siro after spending last season on loan at Fulham, where he registered three goals and four assists in 23 Premier League appearances. Despite the English club opting not to trigger their €26 million purchase option, the 26-year-old has returned to Milan for pre-season.

Amid uncertainty over his future, Amorim has suggested Chukwueze remains part of his plans, stressing that he wants to assess every player before making decisions on departures.

Speaking during his first pre-season press conference, the Portuguese coach praised Chukwueze's ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations, describing it as a key attribute for his squad.

“There are some players who weren’t here last year. Chukwueze is staying with us; we need players who can play one-on-one,” Amorim said, according to SempreMilan.

“Saelemaekers can play on the left or the right; he likes to take on defenders one-on-one.”
