Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has played down speculation linking him with Arsenal, joking that he is "too old" to make the switch to the North London club.

The 29-year-old made the light-hearted remark in a video that surfaced on Tuesday after a Nigerian fan working at Wimbledon asked whether he would consider joining the Gunners.

“I’m too old for Arsenal,” Aina replied with a smile.

Aina has been with Nottingham Forest since joining from Italian side Torino in the summer of 2023. Before returning to the Premier League, he spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Fulham.

The Nigeria international is a graduate of Chelsea's renowned academy and has established himself as one of Forest's key defenders.

Despite failing to score last season, Aina has set an ambitious target of netting at least five goals during the 2026/27 campaign.

The versatile full-back, who began his career as a right winger before transitioning into defence, made 28 appearances across all competitions last season. Although he did not find the back of the net, he registered an assist in Forest's 2–1 UEFA Europa League defeat to Fenerbahçe.
