Kevin Sinfield has been awarded a knighthood in the King's Birthday Honours, while six members of England's Euro 2025-winning squad have been appointed MBEs.

The former Leeds Rhinos and England captain becomes only the second rugby league figure to receive a knighthood, following trailblazer Billy Boston.

Rugby league great Neil Fox has been elevated from an MBE to a CBE, while former Ryder Cup-winning captain Luke Donald, ex-world snooker champion Shaun Murphy and former England rugby union captain Emily Scarratt have all been awarded OBEs.

Among the Lionesses recognised with MBEs are Michelle Agyemang, Jess Carter, Hannah Hampton, Lauren James, Chloe Kelly and Alessia Russo. Their honours follow the recognition of five team-mates in the New Year Honours list.

Former Scotland footballer Lou Macari has also been appointed an MBE for his services to football and his longstanding work supporting homeless people in Stoke-on-Trent. Gary Street, who guided England's women to Rugby World Cup success in 2014, has likewise received an MBE.

Elsewhere, former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein has been awarded an OBE in recognition of his services to football and charitable causes.
