Itauma Faces Toughest Test Yet Against Hrgovic in August

British heavyweight Moses Itauma will return to the ring on 29 August to face Filip Hrgovic at London's O2 Arena in what promises to be the toughest test of his career so far.

Itauma extended his unbeaten record to 14-0 with an impressive victory over Jermaine Franklin in March, retaining his WBA International and WBO Inter-Continental titles.

The performance has earned the 21-year-old his first headline bout against Croatia's Hrgovic, a bronze medallist at the 2016 Olympic Games who boasts a professional record of 21 wins and just one defeat.

"This fight is the litmus test Moses is ready for, and it's the one he wanted," promoter Frank Warren said.

Hrgovic stopped Dave Allen in Doncaster last month and immediately called out the highly rated southpaw.

The pair currently occupy the top two spots in the WBO rankings, with the winner of their O2 showdown expected to move to the front of the queue for a shot at Daniel Dubois' WBO heavyweight title.

Hrgovic's only professional defeat came against Dubois in June 2024. Since then, the 34-year-old has recorded victories over three British fighters  Joe Joyce, David Adeleye and Dave Allen.

The clash with Itauma had initially been pencilled in for 25 July, but plans changed after Anthony Joshua arranged a fight with Kristian Prenga on the same date.
