New Real Madrid signing Marc Cucurella has revealed he had “no doubts” about joining the Spanish giants after completing his £52 million move from Chelsea.
The Spain international also disclosed that he spoke with newly appointed head coach Jose Mourinho before finalising the transfer.
“When Madrid came, I didn’t think twice. It’s a unique opportunity,” Cucurella told Spanish outlet El Mundo.
“Playing for Real Madrid is an honour, and not many players can say they’ve done it, so I had no doubts.”
The left-back added that Mourinho played a key role in convincing him about the move.
“He told me that he was really looking forward to working with me, that I would adapt very well, and that Madrid is a great club. I’m excited to work with him.”
Cucurella is one of three major signings already confirmed by Real Madrid this summer, alongside Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté, while Denzel Dumfries is also expected to join the club.
