Teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi produced another sparkling innings in the Indian Premier League, smashing 96, but Rajasthan Royals still fell short as Gujarat Titans sealed their place in Sunday’s final.
Chasing 215, Gujarat skipper Shubman Gill led from the front with a superb 104 off 53 balls, while Sai Sudharsan hammered 58 from 32 deliveries in a dominant opening partnership worth 167 runs.
England pacer Jofra Archer finally dismissed Gill in the 15th over, but the damage had already been done, with the 2022 champions needing just 33 runs from the final five overs.
Jos Buttler and Rahul Tewatia calmly guided Gujarat to a seven-wicket win with eight balls remaining, securing their spot in a third IPL final in five seasons.
The Titans will now face defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who defeated them by 92 runs in the first qualifier, in the title clash in Ahmedabad.
